Day 5 - Oliver Erdmann

We started off day 5 with a few questions to help us learn more about investing, saving, and the stock market. After discussing the questions with each other, we started our second round of presentations. Today, Alice presented about personal banking, Federico presented about equities and stocks, and Sara presented about debt securities. Each of these presentations were very well made and helpful to what we're learning.

After the presentations, we took the bus over the Tiny's No. 5 to meet up with our guest speaker of the day, Vean Gregg, and have lunch. Vean Gregg is a Post Oak parent and he used to work at JPMorgan as an investment banker. Before and during lunch, he talked to us about portfolio management and the principles of finance. This talk was very helpful in explaining how the long-term aspect of the stock market and investing works.

After lunch, we headed back to school for the rest of the day. The first thing that we did was an assignment on the fundamental analysis of a stock. For this assignment we had to choose a stock we wanted to invest in long-term and find out who's behind the company, how the company makes money, information about their stocks, etc. Mr. Gregg's talk was very helpful for this assignment because he explained many of the things we needed to find out about the stock we chose. After that assignment, we moved onto our seminar on The Richest Man in Babylon chapter 6 and Dave Ramsey's Complete Guide to Money chapters 7 and 8. Once we finished our seminar, we watched the last 15 minutes of the movie "The Big Short" and ended a little early for the day.
